This Startup Prescribes and Delivers Birth Control Right to Your Door

Less than a year ago, the San Francisco startup, Nurx, launched a revolutionary app and service. Through their app, women in California and New York can get a prescription for their birth control and have it delivered right to their door.

How the App Works:

1.    The user chooses a brand, answers the same questions they would answer in a physical doctor’s office, and then enter their insurance and shipping info.

2.    The doctor then reviews the request and writes the prescription

3.    Finally, the user’s prescribed medication is delivered right to their door.

In more than 100 countries in the world, women are able to access birth control without a prescription. However, in the United States, contraception is less accessible. And with less access, comes more pregnancies. Each year, in the United States, there are about three million unintended pregnancies.

Today, only two states allow for women to bypass visiting the doctor by getting their contraception directly from pharmacists. Luckily, Nurx has plans to rapidly expand nationwide and make contraception more accessible than ever.
